Work Process About

London Design Festival is an annual celebration of one of the most diverse, innovative design cultures in the world. In 2021, Islington Design District wanted to re-establish its position on the global stage.

The Brief

For the 2021 Festival, Islington Design District wanted a fresh identity to represent a curated, design-led programme of diverse range of local talent and international brands. The aim was to re-establish Islington as a design destination by communicating in an innovative and imaginative way across multiple channels.

The Solution

We developed a visual identity that focuses on themes of reconnection and discovery, celebrating the event’s creative partners through the use of the forms found in their work. Playing on the idea of iconic silhouettes in industrial and furniture design, the forms in the identity are playfully abstracted to create a sense of discovery.

The Client

Campbell Hay facilitated the introduction to Islington Square, one of our new favourite places in London. It was the perfect place to relaunch the Islington Design District with their curated and dynamic programme full of local talent and international brands.

For the revival of the Islington Design District, it was important to create an identity that celebrated each of the District’s creative partners in a dynamic way at the same time as giving IDD a distinct visual language of its own.

The district’s line-up includes the likes of Sam Jacob Studio, NKDWare, Marion Deuchars and Bench Studio. Showcases, pop-ups, live events and workshops are centred at Islington Square throughout the London Design Festival.
